How to make my hair healthy again?
I used to straighten my hair every single day but I used heat protection. Now I leave my hair as it naturally dries and I have many split ends. As well as the split ends, over the past few weeks the look of my hair has been getting generally unhealthy.
I have layers which I want to get rid of and I like the length of my hair so I'm not in a rush to get my hair cut.
The shampoo and conditioner I use is very good - I make sure I never use standard drugstore ones. I currently use Tresemme replenish/remoisture.
Any ideas on how to make my hair look healthy again, like when it did when used to straighten it?
I stopped using heat on my hair a few months ago. I only use the straighteners occasionally just to tidy my hair up sometimes.

Hi Tee remember me.I dont know if It can help but I know these tips:
Step 1
Detangle your hair when it's dry with a wide-toothed comb. Dry hair can withstand the occasional pull, but wet hair is more delicate and susceptible to breakage if you tug too hard.
Step 2
Wash your hair with a gentle, extra-moisturizing shampoo. You may be used to washing your hair daily, but try to wait a day between shampooing to reduce the wear and tear on the damaged strands. Gently finger-comb the lather through your hair; don't rub it into your scalp.
Step 3
Rinse the lather out with warm running water. Avoid repeating with another dose of shampoo; too much washing will unnecessarily tax your hair.
Step 4
Apply a healthy dollop of intensive conditioner to your damp hair and finger-comb it through to coat every strand. Leave on for 2 or 3 minutes to allow the moisturizers to saturate the hair shafts.
Step 5
Rinse out the conditioner, using your fingers to separate sections of hair.
Step 6
Dry your hair by gathering a section in a towel and gently pressing to squeeze out water. Repeat until all excess water is gone. Don't wrap your head in a towel and rub your scalp--rough drying, when your hair is in a wet, weakened state, only encourages breakage.
Step 7
Allow your hair to dry naturally. Avoid rough brushing, blow drying, curling irons and flat irons to minimize additional damage to your hair. If you must style your hair with these implements, apply a moisturizing styling cream to your damp hair to protect it from the heat, and style as gently as you can.
Step 8
Avoid using gels, hairsprays or other styling products that contain alcohol; they'll dry out your hair. Try not to stick your hair in a ponytail or twist into a hair clip; the break-prone hair shafts will be further weakened. While your hair is healing, don't further process it with hair color, relaxers or chemical straighteners.
Step 9
Ask your hairdresser to cut off the damaged sections of your hair if the moisturizing regimen doesn't show results within 4 or 5 weeks. It may seem like a drastic solution, but consider it a chance to get a healthy, new look.Tips and Warnings Wear a hat or apply spray sunscreen to your hair when out in the sun to avoid damage from UV rays
1. Trim Dead Ends
Really, the only way for your hair to look and feel remotely healthy again is to get a trim, no matter how painful it may be! Snip off at least 2 inches of dead ends and it’ll really start to make a difference.
2. Lay Off The Chemicals
You can do it! This means no dying, and God forbid, no relaxers or perms – they are horrible to your hair. If you must dye it once again to get back to your root color, do so. After that, give your hair a serious break.
3. Lay Off The Styling Tools
Just like chemicals, heat is absolute death to your hair as well. Try to keep styling tools to the bare minimum, if not cutting it out completely. If you do continue to use them, consider these tips: air dry instead of blow dry, apply heat protective styling lotion and use warm setting instead of burning hot. When using the styling tool, don’t keep it in the same place too long a time, for risk of burning off your hair. When you’re done, apply leave in conditioner to the ends.
4. Shampoo/Condition Like Crazy
Shampoo gently with moisturizing shampoo. Don’t scrub too hard. Wash your scalp and let the shampoo run into the ends, and rinse until the water turns clear – no extra rinsing is needed.
Follow with weekly deep conditioning masks. When my hair was at its worse, I would deep condition it 3 times a week. One of my favorite is Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle. For super soft hair, rub in a teaspoon of coconut oil into towel dried (but still damp locks) once you’re out of the shower. makes hair very soft and strong. I hear Morrocanoil is fantastic as well, though I haven’t tried it out yet.
5. Protect From The Sun
If the weather is really hot, wear a hat. Also, there is sunscreen for hair, so use it! If you have spray sunscreen, that works too – just hold it above your head and spray it on a few times. This also protects your scalp from sunburn.
Bottom line? Take care of your hair and give it a bit of a breather. Have a good trim and then leave it alone for awhile, and I promise in no time your hair will be back to normal. But the most important tip is to cut it first! I always used to skip this ’cause I wanted long hair, but it really makes a difference.
HOPE THIS HELPS :D!!!!!

I'm the same way. Go get your split/dead ends cut. Ask for them to "dust the ends" only shampoo the top of your head, not down by the ends. This causes it to dry out. When conditioning, focus more on the ends. After your shower towel dry your hair and use a elixir. I use the kera pro restorative one. Turn your heat down on your straightener. Only wash your hair when you need to. May sound gross but get your hair as oily as you can before you was it. Wash your hair about 2-3 times a week. (no, this does not mean don't take showers, use a shower cap) and always have your hair up tight, on lazy days or at night. I keep my hair in I big bun of my head haha. Hope this helped!

Make sure to cut the split ends to not continue any breakage, take vitamins, and if you'd like put olive oil in your conditioner and see a hair dresser for professional hair masks, etc. Hope this helps~

2 things:
-stop using heat on your hair
-cut its edges every 4-6 months
Do these 2 steps and after a year or so your hair will be looking really healthy!

You should definitely see a hair dresser. You don't want to keep your hair unhealthy, so what better way to have a hair stylist cut it, dye it with good dye, and straighten it!
Hope this helps! (:
