Is it a felony or misdemeanor to illegally cross the border into the USA?
Sources would help, I can't find the law.

civil infraction for the first time, which is actually less than a misdemeanor. It's more like speeding ticket.
But it is a felony if crossing the border illegally again after having been deported.
Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to
enter) the United States at a time or place other than as
designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil
penalty of -
(1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or
attempted entry);

Sorry I don't recall the cite from US code, but entry without inspection is a felony, class D, and subject to minimum 6 months in prison.

Felony and its a federal offence but immigration officials don't have to follow same rules as other courts. They pick and choose who they send back home and who locked up.

Neither. You are just automatically an illegal citizen. The word illegal does not mean illegal in the traditional sense. It means that its ok to do something that is illegal. I do not understand, but hope my words helped.

seriously,don't forget there not u s citizens so i don't think its either. we just deport them back to mexico.
