How do you find distance when only given time?

Person x and y plan to meet each other. When they met while walking on a path that joins the two houses, they forget that they wanted to meet each other and continued walking. Person x arrived at person y's house 8 minutes later, while person y arrived at person x's house 18 minutes later. Find the total time taken for person y to go from his house to person x's house.

    STD speed distance time.

    S / T = D

    T x D = S

    D x S = T

    The question as given does not ask for distance, it only asks for the total time. Assuming that they both walked at the same speed (not stated), the total time is 26 minutes.
