How many rapes happen in Chicago a year?

LOVE Chicago, just curious. Anyone have any detail on rapes or attempted rapes? Like where they happen, what time? A map would be wonderful!

I'm completely curious.

Update:

No crap. I'm talking about in general......or average.

Chicago, being in the state of Illinois, does not have rape.

By law, law enforcement cannot use the term.

What most call rape (even if you are a Republican and make a big deal about forcible and non forcible rape) is called Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault.

Raw numbers mean little and cannot be compared. The way statisticians use the numbers is per r 100,000 in population.

In 2009 (last good numbers) the city had a total of 1,439 that is 50.4 out of 100.000.

A downward trend from 1999. 2,469 cases continues.

So you can see their is no such thing as an average. Changes year by year.

You also have to remember that all over rape is the most under reported major crime.

It is believed by most in the field that urban areas such as Chicago have a much higher number of reports made than do richer suburbs and all rural areas.
