My friend thinks she is the best rider?

Question

So we recently went to a show with our trainer. We did open dressage and when she was cantering a circle she went into trot when we weren't supposed to, stepped outside of the arena and knocked over the flower pot and she looked like she was making really sharp turns. When she got out of the arena our instructor was giving all sorts of critique. When it was my turn I had no major mistakes like her and our instructor said all I needed to do was close my hands a bit more. Some how my friend got first place! After she didn't stop bragging about it, "I must be better than you!" I beat he in the rest of the events but she still didn't stop talking about her blue! I know I an a better rider than her because when my iinstructorbrought over a horse that hhadn'tbeen ridden for six months I got to canter her but all my friend was allowed to do was walk. Any ways to make her stop bragging or acting like shes the best rider that ever lived will be eextremelyaappreciated

Okay Starlight, did I say I made a big about it, no. I have been ignoring her since but I'm tired of her telling her friends that know nothing about horses that she is a better rider than me.

ugh!! she sounds soo annoying i`m 14 i understand tell her wat is bothering you and she needs to stop bragging and to treat others as yourself i know this will be hard i hav actually had to do this and dont stop looking in her eyes stare her down this is very hard i hav had to do it 2 times i was sweating lik crazy she needs to stop it!!!  ( I believe in you. U can do it!!!)

I hate idiotic teenage barn drama questions like this. GROW UP, Pandora. The more you react to what your friend did, the more she's going to keep doing it, because she knows she can upset you and make you mad. If you act bored or act like you never heard a word of what she's said, then she'll eventually get bored herself and shut up. I'm sure that your trainer feels the same way I do about this. What happened at the show wasn't that big a deal- your friend was probably nervous or lost her focus for a second or two, and her horse chose that moment to act up and react. I don't know why the judge would pin her over you, however, because stepping out of bounds like that is considered to be an error of the course. If it happens more than once, it's grounds for automatic elimination. I used to work for one of the top judges in this sport, so I know what I am talking about. Maybe the judge felt sorry for the girl in this case. Who knows? In any event, you know that you're the better rider, so I wouldn't worry about it. This will blow over, but only if you quit reacting to what this girl has been bragging about. Who cares if she brags? It doesn't hurt you. People will eventually start to see through the tall tales she's telling, and she will be the one who looks like an idiot the next time around.

It doesn't matter how good she thinks she is and how she thinks she is better then you, all that matter is that YOU believe that you are better! people have their moments and at some stage we all like to brag about how good we are at something! just leave it cool down for a bit, if you are a good rider don't worry about her! just ride your best and show HER who is a better rider by not getting too upset about her win, (I'm sure it was a fluke!) and if it is the only place she beats you- let her have it!- it may be the only time she can brag!! :) i hope this helped a bit
