THere seems to be some confusion at the question level itself, for, it has a lot of erroneous assumptions:

    1. What is meant by Brahmins? Caste? There is no sanction for caste in the Indian ancient dharma. Group? yes, but it is based on the natural disposal of attitudes and actions. Any one who has the attitude towards inquiring about brahman and strives take action in realising that is a brahmin, not withstanding where he was born to whom he was born.

    2. Why brahmins of south India? Why not other parts of India as well as the world, as brahmins falling under the definition stated in para 1 can be anywhere in the world?

    3. Why should a brahmin falling within the definition of para 1 marry a non-brahmin (that is, who is not a brahmin as per para 1 definition)? How will it pave way for a new era?

    4. Why marriage is chosen as the means to achieve a new era? Is not universal friendship that is required rather than marriage?

    5. Why arranged marriage? What is wrong with Love marriage.

I think the questioner is fully confused as to, what brahminism means and is under the impression that marriage is a solution based on hypes created by different sections of society, without application of mind!

Why you have specified only south india? Anyway, there are three types of marriages: 1. Arranged marriage, 2. Love marriage and 3. Arranged love marriage.

In case of love marriage, inter caste marriages are common, with or without parental consent. In the last case, it is consent by parents of inter caste marriage, when the lovers belong to different castes. This will be more long lasting.

In case of arranged marriages, the stage has not yet come which will answer your question. It may happen in future under certain conditions like when the bride/groom are quite old and marriage is only for companionship; economic necessity of either the bride or the groom or for other unavoidable reasons. The main constraints may be food habits like veg/non veg, customs, religious rites etc.

The situation may develop itself in later generations and there is no need to "start" a new era.

One of My best friend of Reddy Community from Andhra Married four months before (from the day you asked question) to a Brahmin Girl from Bhopal. She belonged to Tripathi Community. I attended their marriage and reception in Hyderabad(boy is from hydrabad). Further this is both Love and Arranged Marriage.

So clearly, Its already there in society.

The arranged marriage between different castes is already being done on a small percentage level .However it will be in full force in coming decades(mainly among middle class).

However even then class difference will remain among rich and poor :)

Yes possible .... this is also an age old tradition ...as called "anulom Vivaha" and "Pratilom Vivaha" ....

But there are situatiuons for those marriage ... no traditional marriage was driven by Lust ....

Today .... things are different ....... don't want to discuss that ...when opposing tradition and culture without knowing them is a sign of educational valor ... i have no interest in them who being black tries to use fairness cream to be western white...... but ...as you have asked ...

Can Brahmins of SouthIndia start a new era by marrying non brahmin ? ....... its not about starting a new era ..... SHASTRA is all .... there are provisions for such marriage .... not by choice but by necessity.

The Hindu community has to come out of this caste system and marry boys and girls from different castes and race.Only by doing this we can move on with time and fight against injustice done by others.

Here in my location, I have a married couple, of which the bride is a brahmin, bride-groom is a non bramin..

They conviced their parents and finally got married recently with "yes" from both sides..

So, If you love someone who's a non bramin, tell him to come with his parents and convince your family :-P

Arranged marriages are stupid. It's always some fat short ugly guy who smokes with a 1970s style mustache marrying a beautiful young woman who is taller than him. Poor girl, what a life.

    Very good point Archana,

I fully second your thought, but till there are educated brutes and illiterate fools in India, I don't think this is going to happen.

For this we have to dump our 33 million Gods and 1000s of religions as meaningless and useless, then only such things happen in India.

Nobody feels that India is a secular Country. That declaration is in doldrums.
