Bright ideas please - glass!?
I have a sheet of toughened glass to get rid of (don't ask - it was a two level coffee table and I caught the bottom layer on something when I dismantled it and it shattered - totally amazing to see but I don't really want to do the same with this piece!) its about 6 foot long by roughly 2 wide. Not sure I want to put it in the car to take to the tip - any ideas on how to safely break it whilst contained please so I can transport it? Thanks!

Make sure your on a place where you can clean this up quickly. and wont damage the floor!
get some big garbage bags, cut the end off a couple and slide them over the glass overlapping one another. Then get another two with the ends still on and place them over the ends of the glass. Sticky tape all the bags together thoroughly.
Slowly, use a hammer to smash the glass in all the places you want.
then all you have to do is scrunch the bags together and put them inside another, then put in your bin!
Also, you could always sell it to someone, along with the table. Im sure you could make at least 50$$

A large bin bag is a good idea but first of all, spread some treacle or similar on the glass. It will then stick to the bin bag. If it's toughened glass, though, perhaps you can use a tile cutter?

hi .toughened glass will always shatter but its unusual ,must have got hit quite hard .is there a builder in your street who may allow you to use his skip .if not put glass in dust sheet and transport it to your local dump or council dump .

Melt it in some acid.
Then you just need to put the acid in your car and take that to the tip instead.
