Root Canals Hurts? Should I Ask For A Specific Anesthesia?

I am having a root canal, I changed from my Dentist to a Endodontic since I heard horror stories. I also did my researched and I found that for painless root canals they need to put you the local anesthesia plus one through your vein or the "happy gas". My Endodontic is only going to use the one they use for fillings and he says it won't hurt. The problem is I had have deep fillings before and I could feel pain because it was close to the nerve, so my question is, how can I be sure that with that same anesthesia (a little more stronger) I won't feel pain at all???

Should I ask him to use another anesthesia or what?

20 mg of Temazepam when you get to the dentists will alleviate 99% of anxiety which is a root cause of pain perception, standard practice many places. Laughing gas will then have you laughing and saying things like pull em all out doc and take your time. Best not to drive home straight after like I did though.

For the basis canals I've had the dentist regularly gave the enamel lots of time to visit 'sleep' and might additionally say to movement if there used to be any agony for he might quit and wait slightly longer to make certain there would not be any agony. You stated you felt the agony or did you imply you sensed it greater than felt it? When they are not operating at the nerves straight they do use an extra method to how they deaden the discipline. When it is a root canal they difference that for they can not have any person leaping out of the chair seeing that of the agony.

It won't hurt; it's totally painless. I don't know where the horror stories have come from. Maybe forty years ago, somebody had a bad experience, but there have been vast improvements since that time.
