Connecting Dell Inspiron 1501 to HDTV?
Alright, so from what I've read from doing a search, I can't just use a VGA to HDMI cable, I would need a converter box ($$$). Don't want to go that route. Would this work?
DVI to HDMI cable

DVI to VGA adapter

Audio cable

I was wanting to use my old laptop, and eventually get an external hard drive, to convert my movies/tv shows to digital and watch them that way, rather than bothering with DVDs. Does it depend on my video card? It has ATI Radeon Xpress 1150.
It does have a channel for pc, it says VGA (source 9), so I suppose I would just need a VGA to VGA cord? But what would the video quality be like, do you know?
Actually, it has hdmi, dvi, and s-video too, but I suppose that doesn't really matter since the laptop only has the VGA port.

Most HDTVs have special connections for receiving computer signals on your remote look for the Source button and press it, it should say somewhere in the line up PC, if so, in the back is a connection for the screen. No converter box is needed. You don't need any HDMI, DVI, VGA, or Audio cable, all you need is the connection from your computer to the TV.
