Can the city fix the sidewalk?

Can the city fix the sidewalk which ruins my car from getting onto the driveway?? The driveway slopes immediately up from the sidewalk so I bottom out really bad when trying to pull in my driveway because my rear wheels are still in the street when my front wheels are getting on to the driveway so the bottom center of my exhaust scrapes bad. Even when I get into a good angle. Keep in mind the driveway width isn't that wide. So my question is can the city fix this issue? Can they level out the driveway more?? I mean it is from the side walk to the street. I am the house owner. I don't like to leave my car out because my car is really fixed up and I live in a bad area where cars get stolen. I have locks and alarm on my car but that won't stop them.

depends where the property line is. if the sidewalk is your responsibility to maintain, then you have to pay to fix it.

If its considered city property, they have to fix it if it is a hazard (at least in michigan)also if their sidewalk causes damage to your vehicle or injures you or anyone else- they have to pay for the injuries/vehicle damage. I live in michigan, not sure if it applies to every city though...try calling the city office or governor

not sure what city you're in, yet maximum cities have an easement to place the sidewalk on your sources, The words of that easement many times do not require you to do something in terms of maintance or maintenance. till, on your city/village sources vendors have this manner of accountability (which may be reported in the deed on your sources) you're actually not in charge for maintenance. in spite of the shown fact that, an exception i'm able to think of of is that if the city has got here across that some act you devoted has led to the wear and tear and as a result you're at fault, then they are in a position to high-quality you for the restoration. yet, i could examine your city ordinances in regard to easements or sources maintainence. i could be very bowled over if such an ordinance exists.

Any government unit will come-up with a cure that's worse than the problem, and cost 6 times as much as it should.

Call in your own contractor - make sure they get a permit from the city for "repairs". . . . or the city that hasn't addressed the problem to date will notice your efforts to correct - and make you rip it out.

the city will tell you it is your responsability. try laying some paver bricks on the street beside your side walk to make up the differenv\ce. hope this helps.
