    The basic idea of Jesus is respectable, he was a nice guy who liked to heal people, and give things to them to make their life better, but Christians like to push their beliefs down your throat, discriminate against homosexuals and those of other faiths, and are generally republican who don't want to help the poor. the full quote is "I like your Christ, but do not like your Christians, your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

    Source(s): I love that quote.

    Before quoting Gandhi to bash Christians, you might want to read this:

    http://www.sacred-living.org/gandhi-what-jesus-mea...

    From this, I doubt you would really enjoy what his take would be on atheism, or at least the brand of atheism displayed frequently on this site.

    But while I agree with Gandhi and his perspective on Christ, I find it hypocritical to be too judgemental of Christians. People are people. I have met many indian people before, and while in general they are good moral people, they have the judgmental types as much as any other country, or religion or atheist or whatever classification.

    Gandhi was vehemently opposed to abortion; as well as all forms of artificial birth-control. Gandhi expressed these views in a book which he personally wrote called Birth Control: The Right Way and the Wrong Way (Ahmedabad: Navajivan Press, 1959). Gandhi wrote:

    "It seems to be clear as daylight that abortion would be a crime." (Abortion is Bad Karma,)

    and many who cite him for Christianity distance themselves from his abortion is a crime.

    When such people die they will face Jesus and maybe Gandhi and be eternally sorry to have condemned themselves by their own words.

    Please bear in mind that while Gandhi was a very smart and admirable man, his word is not holy scripture.

    He probably was not aware that most who call themselves Christians, are not.

  • 1. I understand it.

    2. I currently realize that many 'Christians' have allowed Satan's(Eph. 6:12) 'temptations' into the Bible, and not enough 'Christians' are exposing them (Eph. 5:11)

    I like this one better:

    After long study and experience, I have come to the conclusion that

    (1) all religions are true;

    (2)all religions have some errors in them;

    (3) all religions are almost as dear to me as my own Hinduism, in as much as all human beings should be as dear to me as one's own close relatives. My own veneration for other faiths is the same as that for my own faith"

    that's how I feel. The majority of christians are douchebags. Jesus was awesome though, assuming any of the story written about him is true.

    Here's one Christian who not only understands that, but sympathizes.
