3cm dilated, 80 percent effaced, ready for labor but...?

On Wednesday I had my doctor appointment and the midwife said I was 3 cm dilated, 80 percent effaced and my cervix was ready for labor. I have had all of signs (lightening, nesting, diarrhea, nausea, mild contractions, increased vagina discharge that is thin watery mixed with mucus, my baby dropped 3 weeks ago) The only thing that hasn't happen is the bloody show and water breaking. I'm wondering how can I make my contractions more regularly so I could possible be able to kick start my labor? I'm currently 39 weeks and 3 days along.

Sometimes you wont have your bloody show or your water break til after you get to the hospital. Sometimes the doctor has to break your water for you. So those two things I wouldn't worry about. If you are able to walk through your contractions, that is the best and safest way to "induce" / bring on labor at home. Sex is safe as well, if your doctor hasn't recommended you not to...it helps thin out your cervix even more. After 37 weeks you are considered full term, so as long as you're not trying anything dangerous, and your doctor hasn't told you otherwise you and your baby should be healthy enough for labor now.

Source(s): 39 weeks & 3 days pregnant with first and getting induced Monday the 27th. But due date is the 28th. So I will still be 39 weeks and it was my doctors idea to get induced. So I know me & my baby are healthy.

When mother nature says it is time it will be time, other than that patience is a virtue.
