Are there any shops or markets near Changi Airport, Singapore?
We will be in transit for several hours, arriving about 5pm. We will be too late for a free bus tour of the city, but would like to go to some shops outside the airport. Is there anything that is very close that we can go to for an hour or so?
I know that Changi Airport is very large, having been there a few times, but I was hoping to see something different. There are a lot of shops, but there is little competition between them. All the duty-free store are owned by one owner, similarly all the electronics etc. It is not cheap, and is very westernised. Not what I am after.

Changi Airport is indeed quite pricey, but you can take the subway from the airport to the downtown core. It isn't too far away (I forgot how long). If you can make it, Orchard Road, which is a bit past downtown, has lots of shopping malls, generally on the typical mall-price scale.
Chinatown and Bugis (flea markets) are cheaper, but are limited in selections.
Singapore as a whole is not typically a cheap place for electronics. Still, you can find some items cheaper depending on what they are. The traditional electronics are of Singapore is Suntec City, but it isn't exactly affordable.

Changi Airport is like a mall by itself in transit if you have a few hours do not clear immigration remain in transit you can go to all the terminals by skytrain and there are a lot of shops and eateries in all 3 terminals thats the reason Changi Airport in ranked one of the best airport in the world trust me
