Trouble installing Microsoft Office 2010 for Windows?
I just got Microsoft Office 2010 for my computer. It is a Windows XP (Dell computer). When I went to install Office I got a Setup Error saying "system is unable to proceed due to the following error(s): To install and use this product, you must be running one of the following operating systems:
x86 platform
-Windows 7
-Windows Vista SP1
-Windows XP SP3
-Windows Server 2003 SP2
x64 platform
-Windows 7
-Windows Vista SP1
-Windows Server 2008"
First of all, I don't know how to tell whether or not I have a x86 platform or x64 platform. And second, how do I get a compatible operating system? Can I do it myself or do I need to bring it to my computer doctor and spend money? Thank you so much in advance.

If you have XP make sure that you have SP3 (Service Pack 3) You can get it here.

If you already have SP3 installed then you may want to get a registry cleaner to make sure that you don't have any conflicting registry files than could stop the installation. You can get one here. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.as...

You install a new version. Go out and buy windows 7, and install it over xp.
