Charging a 6 volt motorcycle battery?
I just want to be sure, I can charge a 6 volt battery with a 6 volt, 6 amp charger? The reason why i was asking was because we didn't have charger that was rated for 6 volts, (Till I just found one now) and the other charger was a much much older one that charged at a slower pace, I think it was 1 amp an hour. I just want to be sure I'd be fine with jamming 6 amps into that battery? o.O
So I found the 1 amp charger. The battery is supposedly new, I bought it last year, new. I'm fixing up an older Kawasaki F11. Anyway thanks for the heads up I'll keep in mind. The funny thing was the 6 amp charger is broken anyway lol I did find the 6v 1 amp charger though!

It is better to use a slow charge. Fast charges like the six amp generates alot of heat and is not good for the health of the battery.
When I charge car batteries I only use a 2 amp charge.

Generally the 1 amh will be better for the battery, as the slower the charge the less reaction heat will occur and will not tend to fry your battery, the 6v lead acid batterys were poor at best which is why you don't see them in modern motorcycles anymore, now the fact your putting it on a charger tells me its most likely junk anyway, if the battery, which are only good for a year or 2 anyway was properly maintained and the charging system on the motorcycle was working properly there would be no need to charge it, as a general rule if a small motorcycle lead acid battery has gone dead it means its dead and all the charging in the world wont bring it back to life.

Look at the AH (Amp Hour) Capacity of the battery. You can safely charge a battery at 10-35% of the total capacity of the battery. Any more, say, 50% or more of the capacity and the internal resistance will rise and it could be harmful to the battery in the long run. 10% is what I recommend.
For storage and maintenance (assuming the battery is already fully charged) you can get away with a charge rate as low as 2-3%. If you go any lower, the charger will struggle to keep the charge and it may overheat simply because the ratio of charge to capacity is so great.
For motorcycle batteries, 1 amp sounds just fine :)

Buy yourself a 6 volt battery charger at a car accessory shop or a motorcycle shop.

As long as the voltages matches match, you are fine. The lower the amperage, the deeper more saturating charge would be available.
