Virtual/Practice Stock Trading?

I'm thinking about getting started with some stock trading but I have no experience/knowledge of it at all. I've heard that there are virtual stock trading websites that allow you to build up a portfolio with practice money, does anyone here have a site they would like to recommend?

Any other advice or material for a beginner would also be appreciated :)

Thanks,

Sam

    Hi Sam

You are already on the Yahoo site. It has a finance section where you can enter practise or real portfolios to track stocks. It has good information available on the site as well. You do not compete with anyone so there is no pressure to make mistakes. You can practise and proceed at you own speed.

Binary options let users trade in currency pairs and stocks for various predetermined time-periods, minimal of which is 30 seconds. Executing trades is straightforward. The system uses user-friendly interfaces, which even an 8 years old kid, can operate without having to read any instructions. But winning trades is Not easy.

Binary trading is advertised as the only genuine system that lets users earn preposterous amounts of money in ridiculously short period of time. Advertisers try to implicate as if you can make $350 every 60 seconds; if it was true then binary trading would truly be an astonishing business.

However, does it make any sense? Can every trader make tons of money in binary trading? Who is actually paying all the money or the profit to traders?

The first challenge is finding a trustworthy binary broker; secondly, you need to find a binary trading strategy, which you can use to make profits consistently. Without an effective trading strategy, there is no way you can make money in this business.

It's probably the best way to learn how to win with binary option

Penny stocks are loosely categorized companies with share prices of below $5 and with market caps of under $200 million. They are sometimes referred to as "the slot machines of the equity market" because of the money involved. There may be a good place for penny stocks in the portfolio of an experienced, advanced investor, however, if you follow this guide you will learn the most efficient strategies https://tr.im/c8109

Binaries are simple to trade but don't make the mistake of thinking that they are easy to make money with. Learn here https://tr.im/NiDBE

To start, let's be clear: you can make money binary options trading. It's definitely possible to generate a consistent profit. Smart traders do it every day. In a modern marketplace that relies on leverage Roger Pierce will teach you not only how to utilise the most effective low risk spread strategy, but how to keep your savings growing using the same technique.

frankly you don't have to use websites to gain experience in trading without actually spending any money (a practice I highly recommend by the way). People use these sites for convenience as they don't have to do calculations associated with their trades, I have never used one myself but my impression is they become competitions between participants which can lead to bad habits in order to "WIN"

All you need is a spreadsheet where you give yourself say $100,000.00 of play money

then after making a decision to buy a stock then have a section where you place your orders describing what they are...for example:

Buy 1000 shares of ABC @ $6.00/share Bid valid until Aug 30, 2012

Sell 500 shares of XYZ @ $15.00/share Bid valid until Sept 1, 2012

Now if the stock trades in that time period you assume that your trade was completed and then you add this stock to your portfolio

    Stock name....Date...transaction....price/share....no. of shares....Sub Tot...commission....total

have a section for each stock you own and as more transactions occur then place the info in that section

as you make or spend money add or subtract from your $100,000 and see how you do.

This is a very basic record...I still keep track of my stocks in a similar manner today....I don't need a website to do those calculations....it designed properly it will grow to quite a size.

currently I have about about 20 sheets

one that is a data entry page for each portfolio (you can start with just one for practice but eventually you may have a regular portfolio, one for a a tax free account...etc.

Each portfolio has a page for transaction info, a page keeping track of transactions/dividends, a data updating page which feeds the summary page...each line is a one week summary. The data flows from on page to another...

Depending on your spreadsheet skills it can be quite impressive. I would be lost without mine.

So the upshot of this is...do everything yourself....you will not regret it...you will understand more about what you are doing.
