What is the best mobile broadband dongle I can buy for occasional internet use?

I have full internet on my phone and I would just like a dongle that I can top up every now for the very rare occasion that I need to do something on the laptop.

I would appreciate any advice.

Which can I buy? Which are the cheapest around? How long would a top up last?

Just like with a mobile phone, we top up and the money just stays on the phone until we use it up, thats what I would like.

Thankyou in advance.

I am with Vodafone on pay monthly with unlimited data. Pay as you go can be expensive if you download large files, eg music and videos, stream tv etc. Obviously the length of the top up depends on how much data you use.

Some phones and tablets iPhone/iPad/Samsung Galaxy Tab enable you to let you set up a WIFI hotspot, so you could connect your laptop via a Wireless Network Connection.

Vodafone has a good coverage within the UK, however in some areas the signal strength can be poor.
