Times have changed, America is not the land of milk and honey as it once was, you have to be smart to really get ahead these days, not just educated but smart, granted you can be an illegal alien or lazy baby making citizen and get the Obummer hand outs but you wont get ahead, you'll survive but wont live the American dream, and most likely complain about how the white man is keeping you down and you get no respect, as you sit on your butt all day yellin at your 15 soon to be gangsta Chillins, or looking over your shoulder all the time planning your escape route when the immigration authority's show up at your door, then the others are so far into debt due to student loans thinking there educated now can never pay the loan back because there book smart and not life smart, in which case there $200K school loan lands them a job at McDonald's for minimum wage, Myself? heck I'm 52 years old, dropped out of school and joined the USAF for 6 years, and have been a mechanic ever sense, these days I only do Heavy and High lift specialized equipment, but my home is payed for, have several classic cars boats and motorcycles, Motor home, expensive guitars, and every other kind of toy you can think of. and most of these I have restored myself, and yes there all payed for, my 2 kids/boys don't want to go to collage, there happy learning to be mechanics, at 18 and 20 there already better than most that have been to expensive trade schools, they had a good teacher. and they both have good jobs because there teacher has connections, Id say within the last 34 years I've been unemployed for about maybe 3 months total, only because I wanted to be. and during that time I was still making money on the side, actually I could retire today but I enjoy what I do, and figure I can train and pass my knowledge on to many more that want to pursue the trade. so is that the American dream? I think it is.

I'm working towards living my dream of being a medical doctor ! Almost there! I think the american dream is over for those who gave up and/or the obstacles of life won and put an end to their dream. Sad stuff.
