I just "lost" my 2001 Golf 1.8t and I'm heartbroken! I'm looking to get a replacement Golf. Which one?

I LOVED MY 1.8t Golf! LOVED IT! ...A tool in an Acura killed it. So, now I need another car and I'm going to get another Golf. But, which one? I was considering something used. I'm leaning towards a GTI Golf IV or V. Which one is better? I would consider a new GTI but I would need to be convinced that it was the best GTI ever. Help me decide.

I'm want to get a four door and it must have a stick shift. NO TRANSMISSION!

I'm looking for the best GTI with the best GTI experience.

Please get a Mk6 GTI w/ manual transmission. You won't regret it man, I swear. I wanted to get a Infiniti G35 because of the stock power it makes since I won't be modding for awhile but man I'm so glad I got the GTI. It's perfect on speed. The has crazy acceleration. It's so practical. Helped my brother move in to his dorm with just my 11 GTI and 06 325i and he had a alot of ****. Stock the thing is so entertaining. Its so fast and so nimble you can't keep your foot off the gas. I've been flooring it everyday I've had the car which almost 3 months now and I'm still getting 23.3 MPG. Yeah its limited to 120 mph but a simple chip will erase that and depending on which tuner you use, can gain up to 60+ hp and 80+ ft. lbs. tq. I promise you man you won't regret it. It looks so nice. Specially with the 18 inch OEM wheels. Its a great little car man, I promise you'll love it.

OK. You want the best "GTI" experience then, whithout question, that would be the MK6. I'm old school so I might pick another model but I understand what you are looking for. Good luck.

Best GTi would be a Mk1. Best engine to be swapped in would probably be a 1.8t or a 2.0l ABA with a turbo.
