Is there a way to use a demo as a template to make a website?

Ive been trying to find tutorials on how to take an ordinary demo found of wordpress and basically "Copy" the code so i can use it in dreamweaver. I tried downloading it as a theme, but when i opened it up, it only just confused me more. Im fairly new to dreamweaver, but i was wondering if there was an easier way to use demo's code as a template so i can create something like it on my own site?

Im hosting my own site, im not going through wordpress or another site to choose a template.

Update:

To Jacob and Cat: I know how to work with HTML and CSS. I was just wondering how to get the code so i can paste it into dreamweaver so i can manipulate the code to add my own stuff and mainly just use the demo modle as a template.

Yes, using an existing website as a 'template' is an excellent way to learn.

If you would like to call a professional website developer and ask questions of 'how do I do something in Dreamweaver', then you should setup web hosting at iRapture.com and then you can take advantage of iRapture.com's web hosting support that includes 'how to' questions at no additional charge.

Sure. The trick to it? You have to know html and css. Knowing how wordpress themes work wouldn't hurt either. You can't just open it in dreamweaver and expect dreamweaver to do it for you, unfortunately. This is why you're confused.

Learn html and css, then you'll be able to do what you need to do.
