Does dropping French my senior year look bad to colleges?

I've been taking french since 7th grade, so i've taken 5 years of it. I'm supposed to be taking AP french this year, but my teacher is crazy and unfair and the class is so stressful. so i want to drop it and take AP bio. i want to be an engineer, and i am applying to some ivy league schools. my mom doesnt want me to drop it because she thinks that it will look bad to colleges to have not taken a language my senior year.

It shouldn't make a difference. You will be taking an AP class in place of it.

I was told by a teacher that colleges check for consistency in classes. (Which means that if you took French every single year it would look better on your application). If you were to take French 1 year, then Spanish another, and then Italian another it would look really bad.

But because you're going to be an engineer I don't think language is that important with the career choice. So it's not that bad. And having AP bio would probably look better than taking AP french, as an engineer.

No, it will not look bad. You've already taken several years of it. Besides, if you want to be an engineer, AP Bio is much more useful on your transcript.

Colleges like to see at least two consecutive years of a language and you've met those requirements, so you're fine. You've even exceeded that. However, I am not sure if colleges will see all of the French that you took in middle school. Check to be sure.
