how to re-record onto dvd's?
I just started using my dvd-r to record onto using the method that says the disk will be like a usb stick so I can delete and re-record onto the disk forever. However when I move or delete movies from the disk and try to re-record onto it it states that I only have the free space on it that was there from the first recording, and it will allow me to add another movie, up to the original limit. I have tried to reformat it, erase it and such several times to no solution. I am running windows 7. Thanks for any comments as I am poor and do not want to throw away more money to use these disks only once Del

i dont think you can do what you desire in a dvd-r.
there are, basically some types of DVD medias.
*DVD-R [Digital versatile disk-recordable]
*DVD-RW [DVD re writable]
what you have is DVD-r,
the features of it are,
-can write only once.
-data can be appended to previously written data.
The prob is you can not delete the data actually.
what you are doing is appending the data.
so what i am coming to say, you cannot delete and re record the data, as we are doing in USB drives.
For this fecility you have to go for DVD-RW.
In this type of media you can delete and write again.
same like usb thumb drives, but very limitted number of times,
Clear????

DVD-R discs cannot be erased. What's happening is that Windows is hiding the already burned areas of the disc. That means that even it seems like you've erased a file, it's really still there and still taking up space.
I suggest you either use DVD-RW media or get a cheap USB flash drive.

The other two are correct. But why not just buy a flash drive? You can get them for super cheap nowadays and it will be MUCH easier to use than trying to use DVDs as flash drives. And much cheaper in the long run.

Has to be a DVD-RW in order for you to rewrite.
