My Cat likes to walk on Kitchen Counters?

My Mother has a Cat which I do really enjoy being with, very easy going and loving. However this Cat does like to walk on the kitchen counters and sometimes sits or lays down. This Critter is a Female about One Year old, spaded. nI am some what concerned even though it is a house Cat, is it spreading Fungus and Maggots onto the counter from its litterbox? Do I need to wipe everything down with Bleach before I make a Chicken patty meal? Thanks for the comments Del

My cats did that when they were little. It's normal for them because they are curious and want to explore new places. Also, they think it gets your attention. I would wipe it down with wipes for just a soapy sponge. If you want your cat to stop get a spray bottle and everytime your cat gets up squirt her a little. She will learn not to and when she sees the spray bottle she will know not to. Hope I helped Xo

Counter-surfing is popular with cats. Not only do they like high places, but you never know what tidbit you might find, or maybe a dirty (yummy) dish in the sink.

Her cat has fungus and maggots in its box??? Really??? Then tell her (or help her) keep the box cleaned regularly. As for the counter top, yes, just wipe it down before you put any food products on it.

If there are maggots in the cat litter it is certainly not the cat's fault, it is yours. In our house we have made a compromise with the cats; they are allowed to sit on the far corner of the kitchen bench where we never prepare food, but anywhere else on the bench is no-go-zone for the cats. If you are concerned about germs from their paws, just wipe them over with a bit of hand disinfectant when they jump up. Also I don't know why you would have fungus in the cat litter tray. If you clean it daily there should never be such problem. I am happy for my cats to sit on the bench and watch me prepare food, and they are happy because they are allowed to supervise my work. It is really not such a big deal.

I even have not tried this technique yet one ingredient you're able to do is placed a set of empty cans on good of the counter alongside with the different kitchen utensils which will make a variety of of noise while they get knocked down. while the cats leap up and knock them down, the noise reasons them to freak out and run off. with a bit of luck, they study to stay off after that's complete some circumstances.

cats are very clean,. But yes it may get germs on its feet when using its tray. Although itd probly do no harm, its not a nice thought. I dont let my cat up on the kitchen side.

But if your mom does, just wipe the side down.

Your cat is probably not diseased, but I would not let it go on the counter. It walks on the floor and then whatever is on the floor goes from his paws to the table. So keep your counter clean, but I don't think you will get sick if you do not wipe it. Will you answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201208...
