There are scam busting sites with online lists of the names scammers use, their email addresses, stock copy/paste emails, paid-for-in-cash cell phone numbers, stolen pictures and fake websites they use. You could start your search at one of those sites.
If you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.
You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information.
Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.
Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even partial sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.

Each electronic messaging program will vary as to how you get to the message options. I'll cover the basics to start the trace...the rest is up to you.
•Outlook - Right click the message while it's in the inbox and choose Message Options. A window will open with the headers in the bottom of the window.
•Windows Live - Right click the correspondence while it's in the inbox, choose Properties, then click the Details tab.
•GMail - Open the correspondence. In the upper right corner of the email you'll see the word Reply with a little down arrow to the right. Click the down arrow and choose Show Original.
•Hotmail - Right click the memo and choose View Message Source.
•Yahoo! - Right click the note and choose View Full Headers.
•AOL - Click Action and then View Message Source.
You can see that no matter the program, the headers are usually just a right click away.
I've got the header, now how do I start the trace?
The next step to trace an email address is to find the first IP listed in the header. This is most likely the IP initiating point. However, there are exceptions to this. You'll have to look at the information logically to deduce the originating IP.
Can you trace any email address?
Yes and No. For example, someone who sends a message to your hotmail account shows in the X-Originating IP section of the headers. However, someone who sends you a message from GMail will ONLY trace back to Google IP addresses.

The absolutely free reverse email lookup sites generally provide false information, they just want your email to send you spam. To get real information, money will have to be paid.
Also, stay away from shady reverse email lookup sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse phone lookup site like http://www.emailtracer.org/ that has been around since 1997.

Do an IP lookup http://aruljohn.com/info/howtofindipaddress/
It won't show the person's name or exact address but will show you which city/country they are in, UNLESS they are using a proxy server. Expereinced scammers use proxy servers to make it look like they are emailing you from somewhere else. They can route through a UK proxy to appear like they are in the UK, a US proxu to appear like they are in the US, a Russian proxy to appear like they are in Russia, etc, etc and there is no way for you to know if they are using a proxy or not, or how to find their real location if they are
