how can i stop my guinea pig pining for its sister?
i used to have 2 guinea pigs (one passed away this morning) :( she's been with her sister since she was born and shes now about 5 years old. She's always gets upset without her, even if i took her sister out for a cuddle she'd panic and start squealing.
Is there any way i can stop her pining for her sister and getting depressed? Im really worried about her! :(

I can't really answer your problem, can only sympathize. We also lost our guinea pig a couple of days
ago and our other guinea seems so depressed. They had also been together for around 5 years and
they were always squeaking and chirrupping, now it's so quiet and he just lies there. He is eating a little
but not as much as before. We have thought of getting a new cage mate for him but there comes a time
when there will be one guinea pig left again and we will have to face the same problem.
We have been giving him extra cuddles and played with him more but after a few minutes, he chatters his teeth because he seems annoyed. We can only hope our guinea pigs can adjust, I've heard they go
through a similar grieving process as humans. Maybe try putting extra toys in for her and a few extra cuddles, apart from getting a new guinea pig that they may or may not accept, there seems little
else we can do. Sorry couldn't help just wanted to let you know that I know how you feel and sympathize
with you.
