Is normal to be scared of a horror movie for a really long time?

And how can I get over it? Is it really an age thing? Is it because I have a wild imagination? I can't distract myself my entire life.

I didn't even watch the movie: I watched the stupid trailer, and (kind of) read the Wikipedia plot line. Go ahead, laugh at me. I had been thinking about/terrified (my panic/anxiety attacks came back for the first time in 9 years) of this movie for literally months after that, then it stopped, a few minute a ago I saw a picture for God's sake, and I'm shaking and I feel my temperature dropping. Quite frankly I'm getting sick and tired of it, I'm 16 I don't want to walk out of the room when someone mentions the word 'horror' followed by 'movie'. I'm convinced I have like, a phobia or something. Also, I'm not saying what movie it is, because there are people out the who will find this insignificant to them and joke about it. Another also: I can't search for professional help for this because...well I won't let myself make this any more real of an issue.

There's an old black and white movie I saw when I was a teenager and I'll never get it out of my mind - it freaked me out then, and it still freaks me out, I'll never watch the movie again. And there are movies that have just scared the crap out of me enough where I simply refuse to watch horror movies ever again. You are a little sensitive but it's not out of proportion, don't even worry. Most kids love to get scared a bit but the shame is that sometimes they get too scared and it leaves a lasting impression. I still rate movies over how many times I have to pull my coat over my face. And I have a nephew that once got so freaked out that I had to cover his head with my coat, hold my hands over his ears and get him out of the place - he was shaking like crazy it freaked him out so bad - it was a Renaissance Faire and we were touring the torture chambers when he freaked out. He's now working on his Master's Degree in Accounting and he still won't watch scary movies - his mom and I still joke about it.

You don't need therapy, you just need to protect yourself from that kind of horror. And know your limits. I have a friend who checks the movies for me and she actually tells me which ones I can see and which I can't - that's a darn good friend. Be honest with people, tell them that they freak you out and don't let them tease you - if they do, walk away from them - don't tolerate people teasing you, tell them to screw off.

That's not fair, I'm dying to know which movie it is.

And no it is not normal. you know these things are not real right? these people are actors who laugh together once the camera's stop rolling. I can understand when you think a certain scenario would be scary if you'd imagine yourself in it. Like getting hunted by a serial killer, but how realistic is it that this would happen? Some people might be scared the rest of your life to swim in the ocean after seeing jaws. but they shouldn't start shaking once i mention jaws.

of direction it incredibly is common. a similar undertaking is going for all varieties of flicks and exhibits. i'm particular in case you observed and enjoyed the teletubies once you have been little that would not propose your gonna like them now. For the main area you recognize all that stuff is fake so it won't impression you a similar anymore. yet there will be situations that a number of those photographs would be caught on your head and you will not have the potential to do away with them. desire this helps.

Once you watch (experience) something, it is embedded in your brain. You can't ever forget it. You can put it in the back and go on and try to experience more pleasant things in the future which will help, it just takes time...

I watched the trailer for the ring when i was very young. i had nightmares of that girl with long black hair for years. then i watched it when i was older and it was nothing. trust me. watch it again and you'll see there is nothing to be scared of.
