  • Campus security/drug dealer accusations help?

    Ok so my friend from Halifax broke up with her boyfriend in Calgary (Opposite sides of the country for those who dont know Canada) and hes completely psycho.

    He even gave me death threats for not telling him she was gonna break up with him, even though her and I rarely talk unless shes visiting Calgary, my only relation is that I fixed them up.

    She has texts of him saying he was gonna ruin her life for hurting him too.

    Anyway, he called her campus security all the way in Halifax, saying she was a drug dealer. She sold weed, shrooms, and acid. Thats it. But she has no drugs in her house ever.

    Security called her asking if she could come in after class tomorrow and this is what we think its about.

    What can security do really? Can they check her phone? Can they kick her out of school with no evidence just based on a safety concern of their students or something?

    I just want to know the possibilities.

  • Deep water pressure question?

    what would happen if you had something like a dry ice bomb, where the pressure builds inside and expands and eventually blows up, but put it deep under the sea so the pessure on the outside was equal to the pressure on the inside, and the pressure on the inside andoutside grew at the same rate?

  • Is this considered fraud?

    Ok so I work for Shaw Communications, they sell tv, internet, phones etc...

    Now if employees want to get services they have to buy equipment. Idk why, but regular customers get them as free rentals. So I put the services under an alias I use. My facebooks under this name, every social medias under this name. Even the email I signed up to for work is under this name, its no secret or random.

    SO I get commission for selling int, tv, phone. 15$ each, so I got all 3, with genuine intent to use them cause the phone had a deal for long distance which I need to call a friend in halifax so I was like why not? And tv I wanted for the olympics.

    My roommates bitched so I got rid of the phone and tv. A week after instal. So it looks like I got the services for commission, and then ditched the services. But that isnt the case and they cant prove that.

    After the instal I put the account under my name, and the contract under my name. I didnt give myself free serivces or anything, I just didnt wanna pay 200$ for a modem.

    Now Shaw, the giant of a company. is accusing me of fraud and suspended me for it and im going to be fired after the investigation.

    I am afraid that they will take legal action, but at the same time im thinking its not nearly that big of a deal. My LEGAL name is on the account, paying services, and on contract. Is this fraud? Cause I didnt gain any personal gain from it, except for like, 45$ commission.

    Im so confused and need help.

  • Rational expression math help?

    Solve the following equation for x, x is positive.

    (6/(x^2-1)) - (1/(x+1)) = 1/2

    I know x = 3 from simply guessing. But how can I do this mathmatically?

  • Adding and subtracting Rational Expressions?

    How do I simplify these? I have tried and im jsut not understanding it >.<

    (2 / (x^2 - 1)) + (1 / (2x^2 - 2x))

    This is the answer aparently:

    (5x+1) / (2x^3 - 2x)

    But how do I do this?

    And for subtracting one of them is like this:

    (x / 3x^2 - 3) - (6 / (6x(x+1)))

    This is the answer:

    (x^2 - 3x + 3) / (3x^3 - 3x)

  • Sinusoidal Function help?

    Will the balues of a, b, c, and d affect a cosine graph in the same way that they affect a sine graph?

    Are they asking if y=asin(b-c)+d is the same as y=acos(b-c)+d?

    What are they asking?

  • logarithmic functions help?

    solve the equation algebraically.

    2,000(1.2)^(t/5) = 20,000

    Solve for t.

    Any help would be great! I think I got to use log, but I have no idea how to use log on my calculator. If anyone could tell me how, that would be great! I got the TI-84 Plus, if that means anything.

  • exponential functions help?

    Solve for x in the equation (1/9)^x-3 = 3(27)^x-3 algebraically.

    Since both are to the power of x-3, I can change it to: (1/9)^x = 3(27)^x right?

    But what do I do from here?

  • How do I do this? Math?

    Tell me where im going wrong?

    A(n) = P(1+i)^n

    A = Future Value

    P = Principal (or initial value)

    i = Interest rate

    n = Number of years

    a) Determine the future value of $1000 invested at 8% compounded semi-anually for 20 years.

    b) Determine the future value of $1000 incested at 8% compounded quarterly for 20 years.

    What I want to know is, for the interest do I double it for "a" (making it 16%) cause its semi-anual? And quadruple "b" (making it 32%) cause its quarterly?

    Or am I completely off? How do I do this?

  • Earliest time pregnancy detection?

    So my buddies girlfriend said that she needed to talk, and got him all freaked out that she was going to dump him. But she said she that she was pregnant. He feels terrible and so does she...

    Anyway, what he told me is that they did "it" on saturday, and she said she needed to talk on tuesday, and they talked on wednesday. So she had to have gotten a positive test on tuesday. My question is, is that possible? What is the earliest time a pregnancy test could show? cause thats only 4 days at most. So its probably closer to 3 days.

    So what is the earliest time a test can read accurately?

    and how reliable is a test result after that amount of time?

    I know they can give false negatives, but can they give false positives?

  • Volume formula to write polynomial function?

    Origional dimentions of a retangular prism are;

    Length: 1cm

    Width: 2cm

    Height: 3cm

    origional volume is 6cm^3

    I need the volume to be 120cm^3, while increasing the length, width, and height by the same amount.

    So the new dimentions are;

    Length: 4cm

    Width: 5cm

    Height: 6cm

    New volume is 120cm^3

    Length can be represented by (x+1), width by (x+2), height by (x+3)

    so x = 3

    But how do I use the volume formula to write a polynomial function to model the situation? And what are the restrictions on x?
