The weather was oddly warm that day, considering it was nearly winter.
Word keeps underlining the word winter, saying the grammar is incorrect. is it?

I am not an English major, but i would write it like...
Considering it was nearly winter, the weather that day was oddly warm.
But to answer your question directly, your grammar on that sentence is ok.
And winter is a common noun.. you do not capitalize common nouns. Only proper nouns are capitalized. Proper nouns name a person, place, or thing. Seasons are NOT capitalized.

As "User 1" noted... 'Winter' is, in this case, a proper noun (name of a season) and should be capitalized - just as you'd capitalize the name of a month.

Should have a capital W as it is a name ... Winter
