$35,000? Where does she get it? 8^O
IF you have a job and you can afford it, yes, you have to buy insurance, starting 2014. If you don't make over a certain amount, you'll get assistance from the fed. govt. to buy insurance. If you don't buy insurance, you are 'fined' or 'taxed'--what's the difference?--a maximum of 1% of your income. And if you make less than $250,000/yr, Obama has already lowered your federal income taxes by more than that, so you are still money ahead.
Mitt Romney promises over and over to 'repeal and replace' Obamacare. He was asked what he would replace it with and he rattled off several ideas, all of which are already in Obamacare. One of them was that people shouldn't be allowed to wait until they're sick to buy health insurance. So even if Romney WINS (which is looking more unlikely every day) and even if he makes good on his promise to repeal Obamacare (which is actually even more unlikely), you will STILL be required to buy health insurance or pay a fine or tax.

Being a MA. resident, Romneycare was mandated here when he was Governor. So we HAVE to have insurance here. (because of Romney) This is how it works; If your employer doesn't offer it, you can get an affordable plan through a mandated plan. You keep your same doctor, etc., etc. Nothing changes. The cost is based on your income and it is cheaper than a typical employers cost for insurance. For instance, if you make $300.00 a week, your cost for a mandated plan would be about $77.00 a month.
