It's the sardines. Your salmon shouldn't smell too fishy, that could mean it's going bad.
But either way, if you marinade it in water, half a squeezed lemon, a tbspn of apple cider vinegar and a pinch of salt it should remove much of the fishy taste.

Put a few drops of lemon juice on the fish.spice royally with fresh ground black or white pepper,herbs if you have/like and sea salt bake in butter (smells and tastes deliciously,at least the salmon)As for the sardines (you mean the bigger fresh ones,not the canned) spice the same way,get through flour and fry until it is crisp in olive-oil.Salmon tastes good with a creamy sauce:cheese (I love blue cheese with fish) or herbs or lemon/lime sauce, some like mustard sauce.

Fresh fish shouldn't have a fishy smell. Make sure the fish you buy is fresh.

it will taste fishy one way or the other. the best way to reduce that sensation would be to marinate it.
