Why do women read "50 Shades of Grey"?

So it's a book about female sexual fantasies written by a woman. Why would women read that? What can the book teach them about sex? What can the book teach them about how to be happy in a relationship with a man? It talks about what women want, but isn't the key to a happy relationship understanding what the other part wants? Women know what they want already, why don't they read books about how to make a man happy in bed? 50 Shades of Grey is a book that men should read.

Ever read a novel? Its purpose isn't to teach the reader something new - it isn't to act as an instruction manual.

Some of my friends read it and said it was hard-going, I read a few pages and can definitely say it's not my thing at all.

It isn't though about teaching woman about being happy in a relationship with a man nor is it about how to have sex. It's a means of escape, pure fantasy it's about a relationship between a dominant (male) and submissive (female) one I'm sure in which many of the women who are reading the book would not actually indulge. It's about a man who is confident, takes control and takes the woman to heaven and back - OK do you get the picture now?

So in answer to the question, it's titillating and very different to the norm which may or not be unsatisfactory, so maybe as well as suggesting that women read books on how to make a man happy in bed, maybe women should be reading books about how to make themselves happy in bed and likewise men should be reading books about how to make women happy in bed :)

Loneliness. I'm kidding. Seriously, I think it's for the entertainment value though not a good one. 'Cause who's got time to be ''tied'' up 24/7 & it's not even practical. What happens when they get older LoL. Perish that thought. It doesn't necessarily mean that just 'cause these women pick up a book on BDSM they practice it, well it depends on the reader now won't it? For the same reason you would watch a movie or go to the theme park to ride a rollercoaster, why? Escapism, my friend that's what it is.

Not all women, only those who have little imagination of their own or a boring sex life, or enjoy books that read like a 15 year old's diary. Books like that... a bloodless substitute for life.

Oh no, anyone who views that book as a guide to their love life has serious problems.

And it started off as a Twilight fanfiction written by a mom.

I don't know but I have heard about that book on the news and it sounds creepy and I don't want to read it.

So according to you it's okay for a guy to watch porn, but if a woman reads an erotic novel? 'AR HELL NO'

    Seems legit.
