How do I tell my girlfriend I am a furry?

I want to tell my girlfriend I am a furry, but I don't know how she feels about them. I don't wanna just be "How do you feel about furries?" cause I think that is too direct. I am not ashamed that I am a furry, but cautious about who knows and cautious of how they might react. She does not have any problems with me, and our relationship is good despite me being in a separate college 4 hours away from her (we got together before then and went to the same school so this isn't a "we met on the internet" kinda relationship). Sorry I know this isn't much I detail, I wrote more but due to shitty internet and crappy keyboard it got deleted before I could post it >_<

I have to tell her, and second I don't just want a list of ways of telling people anything in the entire world, I want an actual example of how.

alright I apologize to everyone for not explaining to everyone what a furry is. I think that anthropomorphic animals (they look and act like people) are cool. That's basically it. Though lots of people have a problem with it or just stupidly make jokes about it. If that's not a good enough description than basically imagine an animal (preferably one with legs), now imagine that animal can walk upright, has poseable thumbs and wears clothes and talks and does other things regular people do. I think that is awesome. Some people within this group dress up like said animal-people, I do not though.

    OK, so you're into the furry art. Just show her some and say, here's some pictures I think are cool. Going with "I am a Furry" is too heavy--you don't sound like you have a 'lifestyle', just an aesthetic preference. Don't make it into a BIG DEAL and it won't be.

    P.S.--The term is "opposable thumbs".
