I wish to begin life as a business consultant, where should I first focus>?

Do any experienced people wish to give me their two pence?

Update:

Got an ordinary degree so far in Business Management, about to study honours, what could I possibly do now to enhance employability i.e. some form of consultancy for businesses, shadowing managers at larger ones?

get an education and get experience with an established consulting firm. A degree in Business (MBA preferably), Industrial Org/Psych or Org. Design are probably the most helpful degrees out there. If you can get on with a consulting firm, you will start as an associate, gain experience and eventually either move up the ladder or strike out on your own. Without the experience, you won't get clients (no one is going to trust a re-org with a person with no prior experience in consulting).
