will i lose weight at this point?

is running 3 miles for 5-6 days a week enough to lose weight even if I don't have the best diet such as I might drink soda once a week but no more then equivalent of 2 cans and maybe a dessert also once per week but not over eating any of it. Would this be considered eating/drinking this out of moderation? or should i just drop these 2 things completely ouf my diet ( i only drink water for lunch and dinner during the week unless like I said I might have soda)

Update:

( i go to the gym every other day of the week) ill stop having desserts and soda completely and buy more fruit (watermelon)

No. Your body needs a healthy diet in order to make muscle and burn fat. Try to eat veggies and drink drink drink LOTS of water. Water helps flush out exess stuff out of your stystem!!!! And if you eat sweets and drink sodas after working out, chances are you will eat the calories back. Try to stick to a presise meal plan. Some apps for phones have weight loss meal plans.

it doesn't matter what you eat, it matters how many calories. You can put on 2 pounds of pure fat in a day while eating only lettuce. Granted youd have to have 10,000 calories a day, calories are what determine weight gain/loss. eat 500 cals under maintence every day and you will lose 1 pound of fat a week
