I think "unpleasant" is being kind.
There are two types of people in the world. Those that like cilantro and those that do not like it. I think there are few that have developed a taste for it after long exposure.
I sometimes forget to tell the wait staff "no cilantro" when dining out. That little error can ruin a meal.

Unpleasant is the understatement of the year. I think the stuff tastes like soap. I LOVE mexican food, but I can taste even the smallest amount of cilantro in the food. I usually make sure I am not ordering food out that contains cilantro, and when I cook, I leave it out of any recipe. However, I have purchased dried cilantro in the dry spice section and can use it in small amounts and it doesn't taste as bad.

There have been many studies conducted on the matter - individuals either find cilantro tastes very much like soap or lemon. :)
I love cilantro - it has more of a lemon element to my taste buds.
