Switching at&t contract phone to prepaid?

Ok, so we have a family plan(4 lines) with at&t, and my two year contract just renewed in February, but now I was thinking about switching to a prepaid phone. I don't talk on my phone a lot, and so I don't really need too many minutes, but I only have 200 free texts (that we get from the college that my dad works in) and my texts always go over, and its like a $20 overage fee. So, I was wondering if the prepaid plan is better if I don't have a smartphone? Also, can I switch to the prepaid before my contract is over and avoid the ETF?

Also, I'm thinking about the $25/mo. plan with 250 minutes and unlimited texts...

You will not be able to get out of the contract without the ETF ...sorry. It's a good idea to do what you want to do but you should have done it before you renewed your contract.

I have a GoPhone $50 unlimited plan and I love it. I had to wait til my contract was up though before I switched.

some organizations assist you to i exploit Tmobile and went from Flex Account (prepay) to known and all they did become change the SIM card in my telephone so i'm confident ATT has some thing similar.
