Hello steve,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Based on your post, it appears that you need to install the Wireless drivers. 1394 is more commonly known as Firewire and is mostly used to connect to peripherals such as digital cameras, camcorders and some external hard drives.
Every device has a Vendor and Device id associated with it. Using these IDs, you can find the drivers. For this,
-Open Device Manager
-The hardware whose drivers are missing will appear as Unknown device, so it's easier to locate the device.
- Right click on the unknown device and click on Properties.
-Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id from the drop down box.
-The portion of the code highlighted in RED is the Vendor ID and the portion highlighted in GREEN is the Device ID
Eg: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DC&SUBSYS_30868086
&REV_01\4&1E46F438&0&40F0
Vendor ID = 8086
Device ID = 27DC
- A Google search of "VEN_8086&DEV_27DC" will tell you what device it is and with that you can download the drivers from http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/ukbsdt1/...
Hope this helps.

after reinstalling xp you need to install all the drivers for your pc, go to the manufacturers website and look for driver downloads, download all the drivers for your model on xp and install them, everything should then work properly
