The word does not appear in the Preamble, any of the Articles, or any of the 27 Amendments.

The Constitution is not a very long document. It's easy to read it yourself and see that the word "God" does not appear in the text. For example, this is the oath of office that the Constitution requires every new President to take:

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Presidents traditionally add the words "So help me, God," but those words are not actually part of the constitutional oath.

The closest the Constitution comes to mentioning God is when it mentions the date of its adoption -- "the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven." Some people like to claim that the phrase "the Year of our Lord" proves that the Constitution is a Christian document and the U.S. is officially a Christian nation. Constitutional scholars do not take that claim seriously.

Here is a tip to help you search through pages online for specific words or phrases.

    1) Go to the link I have listed below. You can use whatever page you like, but I have selected this one as an example.

    2) Press and hold your control button then press F. This will open find. Type in the word you are searching for then press enter. If any matches come in the text they will become highlighted in the text. You can use the previous or next button to go through the text.

    Have a nice day.

    Not once, anywhere.

The term was assiduously avoided by the founding fathers.

The original text of the pledge of allegiance did not contain the word, either. The phrase, "One nation, under God," was also not a part of the original text, but added to it in 1954.

    Best regards.
