Laptop keeps overheating and hibernating?
So, two days ago I got The Sims 3: Supernatural (on a disc) and Plants vs. Zombies (from the internet) onto my laptop, and now, whenever I play The Sims 3, the laptop will go black and into hibernation, telling me my laptop has overheated.
This has NEVER happened before. I've had this laptop since either last Christmas or the one before - mum and I can't remember - and it's never ever overheated. All the little grates on the bottom look clear, and I can hear the fan, so that covers two signs I've read about.
It only ever hibernates whenever I'm playing The Sims 3 (except for one instance about an hour ago when it happened during Plants vs. Zombies), so I figure it might a memory thing, because games aren't the smallest of processes.
Are there any little bits and bobs in the software I can turn off to accommodate the games, or some cheap solutions I could look into?
Many thanks. :)

My laptop used to overheat (and still gets pretty hot) when I'd play high memory games like Team Fortress 2. You can either buy a cooling fan for like $20 or what I do is put an ice pack under my laptop to keep it cool. Make sure the fans aren't blocked when you play either. You can also open your task manager (ctrl+alt+del for me) and just close programs that are using up memory and don't need to be running. I've heard of a free program called Game Booster, which is self explanatory (found here: http://download.cnet.com/Game-Booster/3000-18512_4...

verify your battery too. In homestead windows XP, flow to regulate Panel, performance and upkeep, power thoughts, power Meter. Battery cost is indicated. If it really is serious the battery gained't be charging and that is what's sending the computing device into hibernate. (verify the settings less than the "greater" and "Hibernate" tabs.) If it really is not any longer charging, you are able to favor to replace the battery. also pull out the battery and observe the way it runs with in simple terms the transformer power grant. If it performs up then, it would properly be the transformer it really is the topic. or maybe both.
