My youngest son's hair was less than 6 months, when his long curly bangs were getting on his eyes. The sides were thin, it's like a faux hawk. When I trimmed them off, just less than an inch, his hair became straight. They were straight until he turned 16, when they start to get wavy again - like his dad.

His older brother, was born with a head full of straight thick hair. I started cutting his hair when he was old enough to sit still, watching Sesame Street. Then on his 1st Holy Communion, I took him to the barber to get a decent more boyish haircut.

You can get it trimmed around his face- but don't cut anywhere near the root! If you cut it too short at this age it is easy to change the texture of his hair forever. It will grow back thick and be very hard to manage. Just a small trim is all he needs so it is out of his face and eyes.
