Neck of lamb/Leg of lamb?

Can someone please explain why (Neck of lamb) is only available at spring time and (Leg of Lamb) is available all year round.

I do realise it seems a strange question to ask but does the above make sense?

Many thanks for any replys...

Update:

@ pennybarr...

I understand what you are saying here but lamb neck can not be ordered after (spring) as it is out of season...hence the legs of lamb are still in season which does not make sense if you know what i mean.

Its been a long and painful request with butchers where i live here in the UK asking the same question as above...

To late in the year for neck of lamb but not for leg of lamb..... to me it just does not make sense.

I am not to sure if people understand what i am trying to put across here?

Update 2:

@ Desiree Jödden... yes i know what you are saying here but fresh legs of Lamb are avaible here in the UK all year round... so why isnt Neck Of Lamb ٩ ◔‿◔۶

In the butchers shops and supermarkets near to where i live it clearly states (Fresh Legs Of Lamb)............ so back to the Neck Of Lamb ....why isnt that also available as well.

To anyone else who reads this ..... no i am not going insane!............... Lol

Update 4:

Sorry about adding the same paragraph twice but it wont let me delete one of them

This is a guess. I often seen Lamb Neck bones and bone-in Lamb Stew in my local supermarket. My guess it that the meat from the bones are ground up with other parts of the lamb and sold as ground lamb or cut into chunks and sold as boneless lamb stew meat. If the meat is left on the neck bones, it gets sold as Lamb stew which may be mixed in with other bone-in part of the lamb like the shank. It is unlikely that a meat packer or butcher would just discard the lamb neck. I am pretty sure a butcher will be able to order the lamb neck for you.

Lamb neck is for stewing and leg is is spiced with garlic, herbs, bit salt and pepper or chilli and roast in the oven. You'd prefer that in summer to a stew.or you can have chops on a barbecue or fried fillets like for easter. That's the absolute season.Leg can be frozen for a longer time,so you kill the lamb at the perfect age and have just all parts but some parts are better to freeze than other.Sometimes they even tell you that it was frozen.Otherwise it would have gone bad by summer.
