A few questions about unisex names...?

There are a lot of names that are either genuinely unisex, or that have become that way over time. My questions are...

1- What is your favorite name that is MORE popular for girls, but you like only for boys?

2- What is your favorite name that is MORE popular for boys, but you like only for girls?

3- What is a name you like equally for both genders?

If the answer is none either pick the least terrible on you know, or explain why.

Thank you

Oh... My picks...

1- Reilly or Angel. Where I live, they are FAR more popular for girls, but I really dislike them for girls. Both are in my top 10 favorite boy names.

2- Jordyn. I've only ever met one male Jordan, to the 4 or 5 female Jordyns I've known, so to me it seems very feminin.

3- Devin. This is my sister's name, so even though I REALLY like it for a boy, I've also come to love it for a girl.

1 - Avery. Never met anyone (boy or girl) with this name but I prefer it for a boy.

2 - Jack, lots of people think this is outrageous. I couldn't use it anyway because my uncle is called Jack and my brothers middle name is Jackson.

3 - August. I've only met a little boy with the name, but I like it for a girl too. I wouldn't use it because the only nicknames I can think of are Gus and Gusty which are horrible and Augie which sounds too much like Orgy.

My brother is called Riley so it seems very masculine in my opinion. Angel is better for a boy too.

I don't like the name Jordan, and most of the people I know with the name (apart from one) are boys. I do prefer the spelling Jordyn for a girl rather than Jordan though.

I like the name Devin for both genders too.

For boys I also like the names Sawyer, Aubrey, Ainsley, Brook(s), Piper and Robin which are commonly used for girls.

I do like boys names on girl, probably because I'm a bit of a tomboy. I like the names Blaise, Blake, Rocky, Elliott, Ryan, Cassidy, Phoenix, Lee, Logan, Trystan (Tristan), Rory and Sloan.

I like the names Taylor, Raine, Sage and Skyler for both genders.

In my opinion, the traditional gender of the name doesn't matter. You could name your son Emily and he would still be boy, it would be a boys name, what does it matter? Who can determine that certain names are for boys OR girls?

Good luck and I hope I helped a little.

    1. Oh, God... Eden, Avery, Addison, Aubrey, Skylar, Quinn, Mackenzie, Blaire, Emery, Marion, Kennedy etc. The list could literally go on forever as I adore pretty much all "unisex" names for boys and like next to none of them for girls.

    2. None. If it's popular for boys then it's a boy name and I hold a natural aversion towards slapping them on girls. Although, I suppose the closest I can come is the name Shea. It's an Irish boy name, 100% masculine. I'm Irish and I live in Ireland, and would never disrespect the name or my culture by placing it on the fairer sex. But... I am a big Game of Thrones fan and one of the character's name happens to be Shea. So, it's a bit of a Guilty Pleasure, for me. Still, I have Shea Julius on my list...

    3. Leslie. It tends to work really well for men and equally well for women; or so I've seen.

    1. Aubrey. I still find this name really masculine. It feels lovely and handsome on a boy, yet trendy and tacky on a girl. I agree with you on Angel too; I much prefer it on a boy.

    2. Oo this is tough... Alexis? It's still completely a male name in other countries, but it's one of the few unisex names that I like on a girl.

    3. Sam/Sammy or Jamie. I like them as nicknames for both genders.

    :)

well, i know Ashley is a unisex name but i always think of it as a boys name. Jamie strikes me as a name i like for girls even if its a boys name (Jamie-Lee is lika a girls version of it.)

I guess Sam could be unisex too (even if its Samantha or Samuel Sam is still either)

then you have Taylor and Billie or Bobby or Alex.

    1. Kelly and Mackensey. 2. Logan and Devin. I have a friend named Devann pronounced the same way. 3. I like any name provided its not too culturally obscure or awkwardly invented, like Hephsheba or Laquestrianius.
