a place for everything, and everything in it's place

Annie, you didn't say what kind of organization. If you mean stuff, like items, I can help:
- Every item is a Kind of thing. It belongs in a category. Example: a brick is used in construction, and I keep my construction items in the garage.
Decide where the things are to be placed (the dvd's go near the dvd player on the shelf) and always put them there when not being used.
- Keep a trash can in every room.
- Keep a flat space(like a table top) near a door of every room if possible. Place the items to go out of the room in that temp spot.
- When you leave the room, always take something with you.
That should be good for a start.
Look up 'organizing your room' for more. Good luck!

with a good plan and a lot of boxes, large and small, plastic and cardboard.
For papers (which I love paper) I'm always dividing into 3: present, past, future or things I'm working on or need to work on, things I've worked on and are on hold, things I've worked on and will need again.
Stuff in my room is around the outer walls and lined up: office stuff...then entertainment...then clothing...then family tree stuff...then sewing stuff...then kitchen stuff....then misc. It's all a plan.
Before I go to bed I write down on a pad of paper what I plan to do the following day, then when I get up I'm ready to start the day and I bound out of bed and do one thing after the other.

get rid of all garbage...in fact my large trash can is full weekly/..paying for trash pick up is a breeze...
sort items and don't have a lot of stuff
create areas...have a desk area with just what you need...get a file cabinet and use it
clean everything out of the closet...donations go in a box
junk in a large plastic bag
hang all clothes that fit
add hooks to closet so the coat and purse and pack are all placed there and are out of the room..
get rid of the dresser it holds clutter...and takes up space..or put it into the closet.
make your bed daily
get rid of all stuffed animals and any transitional toys...donate or trash...
get a trash can for the room get a hamper for the closet...wash and dry and hang small loads
relax

when i take something out of a cupboard or drawer i leave them open, then when i come back into a room with drawer or cupboard open i know i left something somewhere and then try to remember what it was and go get it to put it back where it belongs
