if you find a body are you still a witness?

I need this information for a book I'm writing.

Thank you in advance :)

Update:

I should've added this:

What if you find a body with all obvious evidence pointing to an animal attack? Would you be a witness

For the one that asked the name of the book, it's called "Red".

yes. you may be questioned on what you saw not only at the body itself, but as you approached the scene. What you touched, moved, and where you walked need to be established. Depending on your relationship to the dead person, and assuming it was not natural causes, you will also be a suspect until they can rule you out.

    STILL a witness?

So the person is a witness even before they found a body and you're asking if they continue being a witness?

    huh?

IF you're going about your business and find a body, you become a witness. That's why the police interview you.

I hope you write the book better than you wrote your question.

  • Yes, you are a witness to the discovery of the body. You could be asked to testify to the circumstances, the position of the body, etc.

Yes. Not a direct witness of the crime, but a witness regarding the crime scene.

Yes, they would question you on everything that happened, what you saw, where you was, who was there, who was with you...etc....and if you don't mind me asking ...whats going to be the book's name?
