Grimm: Why can Hank see the vessen?

I thought that it was previously stated that only grimms and other vessens can tell whether or not someone is a vessen. How is it that Hank can now see them? Did they give an explanation for that and I missed it?

    Wesen can be seen only when they lose control and want to be seen. Hank can't see them all, but if one loses control, he can see them now. I guess he could have "always" have seen them (like he saw Monroe for the first time), but now that he knows, he's looking for it more.

    Wesen can be seen by normal humans when they want them too. Also a crazed Wesen has little control over their transformation.
