Don't know what career path to pursue.?

I'm a very average student, I don't exceed at anything in particular. Don't consider myself smart, but very dedicated and hardworking. I have a 3.5 GPA, mainly taking regular and honors courses, and scored a 1660 on the SAT - math-490, cr-570, writing-600. Planning on going to community college, but have no idea what to major in, the economy is so bad, I see people struggling everyday to get by.

I know the medical field is the best, but I tremble at the thought. I'm mainly good at the administrative sight of things- paperwork is my thing- who can say that? I have social anxiety, not very good at public speaking or leading a group.

I'm freaking out, it's my senior year in high school, and I have no plans.

Stay in education for as long as you can. the thirst for knowledge should never stop. Major in something you ENJOY. There is nothing worse than committing to a course in something you hate. Generally any sort of qualifications can get you good admin/paper work jobs, as your qualifications will show your dedication to study and hard work.

You have one life to live, do something you want to do, it may not be as easy as some other routes, but you have to put happiness first.

Thats exactly how I was in school. I chose to get into business management. I chose this because I could open up a shop that interested me, and if that business some how did not work I could always have a job. Employers love a business degree no matter what career you decide. Even some of the medical personnel have business degrees. Plus if you read some of the Yahoo! articles, business majors actually make more money.

Don't worry, just go to a counselor and describe your interests and they will help you find a perfect job. Also there are plenty of websites that will ask questions about what you are good at, what you like to do, etc and it will give you some of the jobs you may enjoy.

So look into Business Admin type courses. If as you say the medical field is booming then look to take a course in hospital admin or medical clinic admin or such areas. Then you avoid the actual medical jobs but work in the office handling the paperwork for them. More clinics are opening across the country and some will need an administrator or assistants. Decent administrators and top end assistants can make a reasonable income, it is up to you if you want to specialize in a particular field like medical, pharmaceutical, industrial, construction, manufacturing etc.
