Very often they are the older ones because on TV anyway they seem to be hiring people for looks rather than knowledge or skills in recent years but a good journalist will try to be objective in presenting a story instead of an agenda. When you tell a story as part of an agenda that is editorializing which has its place but not in news stories but on the editorial page or a program that doesn't pretend to be objective. Also a good journalist finds a story that is important. There is far too many frivolous stories about celebrities which detract from the real important news. No one should care how many times Lindsey Lohan has been arrested. These sort of stories should be on special programs about entertainment news not mainstream news. All of the news networks are deeply at fault for not reporting the genocide in Darfur for about five years. I would not have known about it except for an editorial written by Nat Hentoff in my local newspaper about 4 years before it hit the major networks. So where you focus is important in deciding which stories are worth reporting on.
