I got 2 centimeters shorter?!?!?
I'm a 16 years old boy, and I've been going to a fitness gym for about 8 months now, 3 months after I took up fitness I was 179 cm tall, now (8 months after taking up) I am 177 cm tall !!! I'm sure this has happened because of the training, and I need to know what gym mahcine (sry for bad english) has caused me to reduce my stature, and what exercises can I do to regain it. Please help me, because I dont want to risk getting shorter. And again, sorry for my bad english.
Kaitlyn when I measured my stature it was evening both 3 months after I started fitness and 8 months after. Charlie it is a big deal to me, TYVM.
PS I was wearing absolutely the same shoes.

Just to be sure that you really lost 2 cm, take your height once in the morning (when you wake up) and once in the evening. Take the average of those two. If you really lost 2 cm, I'm really surprised. I knew that weight training could stop your growth, but make you smaller? Anyways, the exercises that maybe made you shorter are probably exercises where you put heavy weights on yourself while you are standing up, such as dead-lifts with heavy weights, or squats with heavy weights too. As of to gain height, get taller, it might work if you sleep a lot, drink milk and what helped me is to stretch your back a couple times per day.
Source(s): I had kind of the same problem, except that I only stopped growing for a couple of months, but now I'm growing up again. - 9 years ago
Well.. you can't just decrease in height. Were you wearing different shoes? In the morning you're about an inch taller than you are at night.. anyway unless there's something seriously wrong you can't have actually shrunk

Haha dude chill! It was probably just a slight mismeasure. It is NOT physicly possible to "shrink" or "get smaller"! Maybe your posture has just gotten off, and you were slouching, or maybe it was a simple human mistake :) I WOULD NOT stress about it. You wont get shorter and your arent getting shorter! Hope I helped...

If you are doing any sort of squats, that will do it sometimes. They put so much weight on your legs that if you start doing too many, your legs will compress together and therefore sort of shrink
