Why is the thickness of the crust important?

We know that hotspots are more common in oceanic crust than continental crust areas, but how does the thickness of the crust affect the magma?

I'm not sure what you are trying to ask here.

The thinner the crust, the higher the geothermal gradient, the higher the frequency of volcanic hot spots, and the less chance of rifting and earthquakes.

The thickest crust is found in shields (such as the Canadian Shield), and the thinnest crust is found at rifts (such as Mid Atlantic Ridge and East Africa Rift). Clearly the shield has a lower geothermal gradient, less earthquakes, and less volcanoes.
