Great question. Yes and no. People who have money should help other people and they generally do. (Real rich folks give tons of money away.) When the government does it, they tend to pick who gets it and they have all types of rules for who and how and when and why. Government shouldn't redistribute but they can encourage richies and corporations to. Let's do an analogy. If I'm rich and I send you and $1000 for a new car, that's it. You could pick up the car and a six pack of beer on the way home. When the government does it, you have to buy the car they are selling and there are no extras. It's a matter of control. Read the book, "The War on the Poor" by Clarence Carson. The goverment is about control. Both parties.
